Indeed, that's the galaxy we're in.

We are a part of the Milky Way galaxy, so yes, that would be closest. Next would be some small galaxy-like formations clustered with the Milky Way called the Magellanic clouds. The closest full-blown spiral galaxy to our own Milky Way is the Andromeda galaxy.

Okay, I won't rebuke you for the Milky Way comment.

The closest galaxy to our own is the "Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy." At 88,000 light years distant to the Milky Way, it is closer than the Large Magellanic Cloud and much closer than the Andromeda Galaxy.

Andromeda is the closest MAJOR galaxy...being another large gorgeous spiral very similar to the Milky Way. However, there are about 20 small elliptical and irregular galaxies that are closer than Andromeda. All of these make up the "Local Group" a small cluster of galaxies that we are a part of.

We are actually *in* the Milky Way galaxy. Our sun is one of about 200 billion stars in this galaxy.

The closest galaxy outside of the Milky Way is the Large Magellanic Cloud.

We are in the Milky Way Galaxy but I'm not sure about the closest galaxy as all the galaxies in the universe are moving away from each other!

I dont know about your question. But I do know that our planet is in the Milky Way galaxy

The closest galaxy is the Andromeda galaxy. We are inside the Milky Way.

Apparently we're on a collision course with the Andromeda galaxy, too. Be glad you won't be around in a million years! When galaxies collide, it will be a bloodbath. Saturn goes for the throat.

Well, if you want to get technically silly about it, our solar system is inside the Milky Way galaxy.

Andromeda is the next closest legitimately sized galaxy. Why can't you Google this simple stuff?

If you want to consider being inside a galaxy as closest, then yes.

We are in the Milky Way so technically its the closest to us.

But the next closest are:
Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy - 25,000 ly (satellite of Milky Way)
Virgo Stellar Stream - 30,000 ly
Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy - 81,000 ly (satellite)
Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) - 168,000 ly (satellite)
Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) - 200,000 ly (satellite)
Ursa Minor Dwarf Galaxy - 240,000 ly (satellite)
Sculptor Dwarf Galaxy - 254,000 ly (satellite)
Draco Dwarf Galaxy - 280,000 ly (satellite)
Sextans Dwarf Galaxy - 320,000 ly (satellite)
Ursa Major Dwarf - 330,000 ly (satellite)
Carina Dwarf Galaxy - 360,000 (satellite)
Fornax Dwarf Galaxy - 460,000 ly (satellite)
Leo II Dwarf Galaxy - 680,000 ly
Leo I Dwarf Galaxy - 820,000 ly
Phoenix Dwarf Galaxy - 1,300,000 ly
Barnard's Galaxy (NGC 6822) - 1,630,000

There are a lot more but these are the closest.
