Dragonflies come from the famiy known as Aeshnadie. As larvae they crawl along weeds or lake bottoms in search of mosquito larvae. When they need to they can also use a kind of jet propulltion system where they take in water through intermnal gills and then expell it to rovide rapid movement.
Full grown adults prey on adault mosquito's.

I know they eat mosquitos. They are pretty good predators and catch smaller flying insects.
Once I saw a bunch of dragonflies swarming about my parents place and investigated and found that they were catching a bunch of termites that were flying from the nest. That is when I figured out my parents house was being eaten up by termites.

Flies, other dragonflies, mosquitoes, gnats, ants, termites...anything with wings. The larvae eat mosquito larvae, dragonfly larvae, and any other smaller aquatic insect.

They are insectivores, capable of eating insects even larger then themselves. They do not eat plant material. They are absolutely beneficial to mankind, not causing any kind of plant destruction.
