Assyria (2000 BC) and India (3000 BC) and Gaelic androcephalous and Etruscans, besides being Sagittarius in Greek zodiac, in other beliefs they were drunk and disorderly, the bringers of evil, not good. They have been represented in most myths as evil, however in the Greek mythology there was chinin, I think, who went against the par, as I am Capricorn and the Sagittarius is aiming it's cross bow at the zodiacal goat, I am not too fond. Cheers

I don't believe that centaurs are in any other mythology but the Greek. Take a look here. http://www.cc.gatech.edu/aimosaic/students/centaur/compendium/history.html

So you're kinda stuck with Greek, the source of the myth and I've studied history and mythology for a while. They have been adapted to other cultures in fantasy fiction though.

I believe there are other man+animal creatures in other mythologies, but these usually include thing like lions such as the Sphinx.

Your query is like asking to place a well know Cretan tale of the Minotaur into another culture. The only place I've experienced centaurs in a background not Greek is in some of Terry Brooks' fantasies.

Centaurs are in other things, but i think its all just fiction stemming from Greek.

Each old culture had their own mythical creatures/tales etc. Its just Ancient Greece had more known ones.

Its like Norse and dragons like Nidhogg and Sleipnirr Odins horse etc.
