It depends on whether the measures taken by government would genuinely protect us from terrorism, or whether they were just using the politics of fear as an excuse to impose otherwise unpalatable infringements of our civil liberties or right to privacy.

I fully support the genuine efforts of the authorities to combat terrorism, but I fear that many measures the government takes in the name of protecting the public have got nothing to do with it, and are simply an erosion of our civil liberties for the sake of giving the state more power over our lives. I believe the national identity card scheme is one example of this.

First of all, we as Americans should not buy into any of that right-wing paranoia. It is a way that the current adminstation scares the sheep to keep them from holding this banana republican way of government accountable. Now for the high school dropouts out there, BOOGIE MAN TERRORIST ARE GONNA GET YA .... IF YA DONT DO AS WE SAY.

As an ex armed forces member, I have been in a lot of the hot zone areas where terrorists were training. These people are only a problem because we will not take the steps to eridicate the source of funding, OIL COMPANY PROFITS.

Lastly, we should have frozen all the Saudi Arabian interests in our country, and nuked them. They caused 9/11 and then we go to war in Iraq ??!!!

Freedom is not a option to give up. Two easy ways to end this problem, because it's not a war. One declare a state of emergency and take over the energy production in this country. Monopolize the market, close down the for profit industry and make it state run. This way we dictate to the middle eastern countries how & when they will be paid.

Two, starve the middle east. Send them no food, no water, no assitance of any kind. Dont buy their oil or any of their other consumable products. Cut off their access to technology.

They hate us so much, then let them eat sand. If you wish to be recognized as a civilized state, then act like one. Dont blame or individualize a violent act upon another country, as that was an individuals action. Real wars have been started over less and until we destroy the real culprits and the root of this problem it will continue to exsist and fester.

Well, since I haven't had to give up any freedom, then my answer is a resounding NO!

But I am also unwilling to give up my freedoms so the government can give me the "security" of their mandatory welfare system or their mandatory medical healthcare system. You really need to see these as equal violations of the Constitutional principles of individual freedom and a limited government.

Historians will tell you that any time people demand security there is a loss of some freedom.
I am willing to allow my neighbor to lock his doors at night to feel safe inside from intruders.

Give up freedom? No! Be more vigilant in securing our borders and enforcing the laws on the books now? Absolutely

Depends what freedom. Probably not. I'm not worried about terrorists - 231 years of the USA and how many times have we been hit by foreign terrorists?

honestly ... I think it was the exact wrong thing to do

by sacrificing rights we only give an already power hungery government even more power

in my mind fighting terrorism is as grass roots as the terrorist themselves ... and it has to do with knowing your neighbors and the people living in your community, and local law enforcement

if everyone around the world felt that way, the terrorist would have no place to go

I am not willing to sacrifice anything that is listed in the Bill of Rights. Past that I'll be willing to debate.

Don't ever ask me as an American to give up even a "little bit" of my freedom, we have fought too hard for it...
Beware of any politician or otherwise who asks you to give up "a little" of your freedom.......
