i lost the bearings on the expressway. the place i took it to said they cant find the right size seal which sounds strange to me. the bearings are packed and its ready to go except for the seals. its 140 miles away and i need to get it home so i can find the right seals. its a heritage trailer and they said they never heard of it.

You will have to measure the size of the hubs outer bore where the seal fits in, And the size of the axle shaft, where the seal lip contacts the shaft. (If you can't get the number stamped on the metal part of the old seal). If you are not in a secluded place away from civilization, you should be able to go to any industrial, automotive, agricultural supply store, and give them the measurements taken from the hub and axle, or the number from the old seal and I am sure that you would have no trouble finding what you need.

Any place that sells trailer wheel bearings can also get the seals, but finding the listing is proving to be the problem. A lot of times they are packaged as a kit, I dont suppose you have one of the old seals with the number on it? If you need to get it home, you can bring it without seals but the bearings will be full of dirt and immediatly when you get back get the bearings out, clean and repack them and take one of the hubs directly to the parts place, they will be able to get you the seals that way.

you need to get the seals to finish the job --- get the seals on a bus to you ............ and I am trying to help by advising that you have an extra set in your tackle box for such an emergency so next time you are more in charge of your time-loss.. the caps that go on the trailer hubs should be the type that are clear plastic and have grease fittings so you can keep the bearings greased and you can also see if there is a lot of water build up in the hubs --- as this water is the mainist problem and caused your bearings to burn out and disintegrate ---- I never heard of a heritage brand trailer but they all fix the same --- credit card to bus and ship to the shop is all the solution that I can offer at this time --- other boat questions by e-mail to me and I'll be happy to answer -- 40 years of boating for me ............
