I don't like being told what I can and can't do.. so yes when someone forbids me to do I have to actually weigh what it is there telling me not to do, and well it becomes an internal struggle in overcoming the feeling of wanting to "do it or die trying"...

Once when I was a snotty little 22 year old. This girl "forbade"
me to date her boyfriend......didn't work out for her. I really didn't want him, but hey, forbidden fruit and all that.
Now Im a perfectly mature 31 year old and I would never.....ever......do something like that ; )

I never challenged my dad when I was a kid. If he told me not to do something (which was rare), I didn't do it. Now, I am 36 and this never happens.
