Telemarketers from Insurance Services keep calling my place of business. I have been instructed by the business owner who is also my father-in-law to tell them that we are not interested and would they please not call again. They continue to call. They call at least five times a day. The last time they called I got a little upset and told the guy that I have told them several times that we are not interested. He actually yelled at me and said that it was the first time that he ever called. When I started to tell him that I was referring to his entire company and not just him, he actually hung up on me. These people want to sell me something, yet they continue to harass me and are outright rude. Is this professional behavior? Would you buy a service from a company that treated you like this? Am I the only one who gets harassed by telemarketers? How do they stay in business when they treat people this way?

Have you tried putting your phone numbers (not just your business, but your home, too) on the nation's "Do Not Call" list? I have, and it has cut my harassing calls immensely. You can set everything up for free at:

https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov

It doesn't work for everyone, however, and the best way to prove that someone is violating the law, if you want to go to court and sue them, is to record every single phone call you get from them, and then mention at the end of the call while the tape is still running to document everything including what day, and time you got the call. If you persist, you will eventually win. And, at the above website, you'll find out what you get if you do win. I think it's something like $5000. Per Call. So it's worth it to document everything. (Some states have a similar program, but their requirements are more stringent, I think.)

Good luck. It worked for me; just telling them that you are on the list and that you are recording and reporting them will stop them dead in their tracks!!

There are laws agains harassment. I would suggest that you tell them that you will take action against them if they dont stop calling you. Also, keep a log of how many times and the names of the people calling. Once you have sufficient evidence, call the authorities and give them the log. Also, do what the other person adviced here and put your phone numbers on the "do not call" list and they will stop calling.

Good luck!

I would actually buy service from a company that treats me like this, only if need be though. I get harrased by army recruiters over the telephone although not by telemarketers, at least not often. Oh, and they stay in business becase, i dont know lol

They are horribly unprofessional!!
This is the sad situation we have in business today.
In my state, if you tell them you are not interested 3 times during the call, they have to remove your number from their list. Check you state laws and be ready to quote them to the teletmarketer. Good Luck!!

There is a federal no call list and most states have no call lists. Put the number on both lists and the calls should stop.

It was totally unprofessional of him. And no, I would not deal with that company.
