Pitchers pitch so they spend that time throwing and warming up the arm..there is a risk of injury and I really think they are not expected to hit so they dont bother.

Pitchers have a better chance to win a game by focusing on how they pitch rather than how they hit. If they're lucky, they can get a hit or two a game but they could focus on their curveball before the game and get it perfect and get a couple more strikeouts. They also get tired and that sounds sad but you do get tired in BP.

It'll get them tired and they can't throw as many innings. There's also a chance of injury yes. And pitchers aren't a big part of the hitting game. They mainly lay down sac bunts.

A lot of them do. It depends on the team. I know the Cardinals pitching staff takes turns in the batting cage at least semi regularly, but that's because of La Russa.

If pitchers aren't taking batting practice, they are more concerned with what earns them the big paycheck-that major league arm!

They do take batting practice - or, at least, the starting pitchers do. They don't do it as extensively as position players (who make their money by their bat), but they do take it.

I agree but their primary job is to pitch. They only play every 5th day so taking batting practice is somewhat pointless.

Because they are pitchers, they work more on pitching than hitting.
