It is a human duty to see this in everyone. The longing and loss, the yearning and pining of all can be seen in the eyes, and thus the heart. If we all felt this empathy, what I call perceptively visioning, it might make the world a more beautiful place than it is with handfulls of pills or whatever needed to cope with day to day angnst, the eradication of human contact through the electronic revolution, this digital age, where you can know more about anyone than your best friend, and a political system that's based on finances rather than an intellectual maturity and truth. This world sucks, and is beautiful. It is a tempest and a triumph. We all carry scars and the eyes paint the most illuminating. When I leave this earth I will have missed being in the sight of a great mass of humanity. But I will hope that where ever and whenever that horizon takes me, I will see relief and true joy in everyone's eyes. That should be everyone's perception, for we all suffer so much. Another's shoes will never be yours, but in their eyes you may see the shores and shoals and the reefs forged, all which are as jagged as your own...

It is a very good question , I am glad for you , that you have got this desire to look at a person's face and see what their eyes say. I wish you could see more joy in their eyes than pain. What we must do is to cause the least pain to our beloved people and expect the same from them. Let your eyes always smile ..

Jeepers, yes. I think our eyes can tell SO much about us whether we realize it or not. Even if we don't feel good....people can see it in our eyes, and that's so true. Let alone if physical or emotional pain is there. Very easy to see.
If you see someone like that, perhaps you could do something that could change their day...something as little as a smile, a 'hello', holding the door for them, etc. You never know how your 'little' act of kindness can make such a huge impact on someone desperately in need of knowing they are worth something.

Yes, I have good experiencs with 'pained eyes' type thing. For the longest time I couldn't look anyone in the eyes because I was constantly accused of being sad/depressed/angry and usually I was...

I've thought that, sort of, but more grammatically. Watch the video of The Winner Takes It All by ABBA and look at Agnetha's eyes, or When All Is Said And Done and look at Frida's eyes. There's pain.

When you have been with men who have lost their wives, it is almost as if they have lost the path. When you are walking down a path and the light goes out, this is what is there. I know at time it is hard for me to show in writing what I sees. Words are limited. When someone talks you feel the meaning behind the words, most people but there are few I see nothing. I digressed again. These men I am writing about have lost the love of their life, what more can you say.

I have, absolutely. Unfortunately, I've seen much of that pain in children. It can be easy to confuse that with "being an old soul".
But I think it's important to note that you have to be willing to look at someone in that way in order see it. And the question to ask yourself then is, "I've gone to the trouble to notice. Am I willing/prepared to do something about it?"

Yes, I did.....
I saw that look in Grandpa's eyes. He had just awoke from a deep sleep and I'm not sure he recognized me right away.
I was kneeling beside his overturned car and finding it hard to keep his attention as the EMS pried him out of the drivers seat.
He came out of it okay, but we took his keys away after that.

I believe eyes are gateway to soul.
When i first meet someone or start talking to a stranger (as weird as this sounds) i look into there eyes and i can tell if there full of crap or not right away
