North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State have all or are soon completing the jump from Div II to Div1AA. And yet Nebraska-Omaha is leaving the now depleted div II conference for another one. Nebraska Omaha is 33% larger than all of these schools as well. Why did Nebraska Omaha get left behind? Did they want to stay in Div II? Are there any plans in the future for moving to Div 1AA? Facts and opinions both are welcome.

As a ND State grad I was happy to see NDSU go Div 1AA and they did well last year, only 1 loss and that was by 1 point to Minnesota. I know that NDSU moved up for one reason only, MONEY and the increase in scholarships they could offer. I read that the school received $200,000 alone for taking the game against Minnesota in Minneapolis. The University of ND has not moved up yet (they are Div1AA in hockey but nothing else) but I do think they are talking about it starting in 2 years.
