i lost the bearings on the expressway. the place i took it to said they cant find the right size seal which sounds strange to me. the bearings are packed and its ready to go except for the seals. its 140 miles away and i need to get it home so i can find the right seals. its a heritage trailer and they said they never heard of it.

the best way would be to take the old bearings and a seal with you. some have numbers on them the parts house can cross reference or they could measure them.. other wise you need inner and outer Diameter measurements, and a thickness measurement.

To be sure, pull one side down and bring both bearings and the seal. Most autoparts stores can give you the exact bearing, races and seals by the numbers stamped on the bearing. Be sure to repack the bearing with marine grease.

this would be somewhat messy even though it somewhat works. better than possibly, you will could do away with the dirt caps on the tip of the axle. those would be pried off with a screw motive force and replaced via tapping with a leather-based or rubber hammer. in case you have no longer have been given a sort of, use a block of timber between the hammer and canopy. There could be a cotter pin protecting a keeper and castellated (notched) nut on the axle nut. do away with the cotter pin and don't destroy it. in case you have new ones, reassemble using them. you ought to use the previous ones in the event that they are no longer broken. do away with the bearing and sparkling it in solvent. gas or charcoal lighter works wonderful. do away with each and all the previous grease. enable it evaporate. you ought to use rubber gloves or a sparkling plastic bag or in simple terms your bare hands, in case you do no longer recommendations getting messy, for the subsequent step. place a hand packed with grease on your hand and squish the sparkling grease in the process the bearing. Reassemble with out the retainer. Tighten the nut to fifteen ft. lbs. in case you have a torque wrench and back off and tighten as much as you could alongside with your hands. in case you have no longer have been given a torque wrench, use a channel lock pliers. be careful and tighten the nut till you could no longer carry the pliers closed. back the nut off and finger tighten.

taking them with you is a good idea. i think a boat shop will be more likely to have the complete kit than an auto parts store. the kit sells for about $12.

Best bet is to take the old ones with you. there is a part number stamped on both the bearing and the race. They can match it up from there.
