Dem/Lib answer: "Yes of course. Anything for the children."

Rep/Con answer: "No. Those kids have to get their own damn food. I don't care if they have a single mother working two jobs........then the kids could starve, see if I care. I only care about MY kids. ME!! ME!!! ME!! ME!!! ME!!!........go with Christ."

I remember free school lunches when I was at school. They simply weren't very good. My family was certainly not what you could call well off, but my parents were always able to give me some money to go to the chip shop for lunch, rather than suffer the sub-standard food that was on offer.

Despite that, however, free school meals were a great help to families who were less well off, and couldn't provide the money for their children to buy their own lunch.

These days, of course, the situation is very different. Thanks to the efforts of Jamie Oliver and like minded people, school meals have become vastly improved. That standard of food would probably go down again, however, if free meals were provided for all pupils. If parents can afford to pay for their children's lunch, then why shouldn't they? On the other hand, free school meals should certainly be available as a benefit that less well off families can take advantage of if they need to.

Yes. Not every family can afford $2.50 for one lunch every single day. So then what are you going to do? My school doesn't allow people to bring their own lunches. Many of my friends just don't have the money (and i don't blame them) so they just don't have lunch.

No. School meals are never free. Someone has to pay for the food. Someone has to pay employees to prepare and serve it.

No, have you seen the school lunch programs they have now? They are horrible and I would not want my child developing or being exposed to such bad eating habits.

No, why should I pay for your kids lunch? Typical liberal wants to feel good by giving my money away. Hey why don't you pay for all the kids lunch.

No. That would increase taxes, with all the government greed, incompetence, and corruption that comes with it.
