Aren't stories like the one about Al Queda attacking on US soil a matter of National Security? I mean, what can the public possibly do to prevent this? Shouldn't information like this be "classified information"?

It's all just more lies and propaganda from the Bush admin.

Nothing they say can be believed.

No, it shouldn't be classified. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who just got out of the service after being involved in the War on Terror and later Iraq, since the beginning. I am actually pretty angry about the amount of stuff that IS kept classified.

The public rarely hears about the threats that are facing them, and this is the main reason so many have gone back to a pre-9/11 sense of complacency. We're rarely allowed to publicly announce our victories against terrorists because of 'security issues' and the fact that many nations that are letting us into their borders to hunt terrorists don't want the the terrorists to know they're letting us in for fear of being attacked in retaliation. This is the main reason why we have to listen to people whine about how we're not going after the terrorists anymore. Believe me, we are, we just don't make it public most of the time.

The public deserves to know the danger they're in, and what their country is doing to protect them - end of story.

Of course reports of any invasion is a matter of National Security. Why would anyone want this information classified? The real problem here is 'the truth'.

A democracy fails as such if it is not an informed and educated population. A democracy also fails if it makes its decisions upon information of smoke and mirrors.

It almost sounds like someone wants there to be panic-buying of bottled water, duct tape, dust masks, and drop cloths...as if those would protect you from anything other than pollen or paint spills.

No, possible attacks sites and dates should always be made public. Eventually, enough people will quit acting like scared little children and then--only then--can you begin to win against terrorism. If you don't live in fear, you can't be scared.
