I basically don't listen to ANY mainstream hip-hop (it's kinda my mortal enemy), and little by little I find myself getting sick of mainstream rock as what i'm finding underground and on the internet is simply AMAZING, am I getting old? I'm only 24

I've hated mainstream for a few years now, or at least newly released mainstream, and I'm only 16, so for everyone's sake, I hope you're not getting "old". Radio stations choose a song that they think is going to be a hit, and by playing it over and over again, they make it a hit. There's no real music these days, it's all just bands ripping each other off, and bands that write one or two good songs, and use pretty much the same tune/melody/riff in all their other songs.
I'm done ranting now :D

you are not gettting old. you were wrong to begin listening to mainstream. mainstream means whatever djs get paid to play on the radio. the big record companies dont pay you to listen to that bullshit. stay underground and explore different kinds of music that you like. even better .. buy an instrument and make your own music. its very rewarding.

I dont care if the rock music i listen to is "mainstream" or not.. i mean if i like it i like it. and if i dont i dont. im not gonna not listen to a band just cuz they are mainstream. only bad thing about being mainstream is hearing the music 24/7 on the radio and mtv and fuse.... aside from that i dont think its bad or matters lol.

Wait til you get 44 like me...the Mainstream sucks twice as much..unless we have some kind of great Music Genre movement soon then abandon all hope!! We need anothe "Beatles or Nirvana" all I got to listen to new stuff from his old artist, foo Fighters, Collective Soul & Jet!

I gave up on it in the early 80's... Do a little homework and they are some amazing bands out there!

gave up years ago when the started replacing music with this fake and pointless flith called rap.
So know all the music i listen to is from japan. Listening to
D-technolife by UVERworld right now. I'm half way learing Japanense by listening and then looking up the translated lyrics
