A-Rod

Alex Rodriguez and possibly Ken Grififey Jr. A lot of people think that Griffey missed his opportunity to get the record but if he can hit about 30 home runs a season for the next 5 or 6 seasons he will be right around 760. It's not a huge possibility that it happens but he has looked really good this season. I think eventually though A-Rod will own the record. I mean he's only 32 and he already is only 4 homers away from 500. If he would even go at the pace of 30-40 homeruns a season until he's 40, he will have way overshot the record

A-Rod has 496, I do think he'll pass the record, which will most likely be set by Bonds. For now its 755 which is still quite a ways ahead. This is A-Rods 14th year in the league. Bonds has played in the league for 22 years now. Considering that A-Rod plays another 6 years yes I think he will break it. Manny Ramirez has played only 1 more year than A-Rod and has 13 less than him. I think Manny will break into top 5 by the end of his career. Right now he's 26th.

Griffey would have been the one to break it if it wasn't for all the injuries over the past few years, but I think A-Rod has the best chance of breaking the record after Bonds breaks it.

First A-Rod will, then Pujlos (but he wont be able to beat it, a-rod will) then like 20 something years later, Ryan Howard will beat it all, with maybe 794, and A-rod will have 780

Michael P, that is a terrific answer. Howard and A-Rod will both challenge Hank Aaron's longstanding record. Any possibility that Howard is on steroids?

As Yankee announcer and apologist John Sterling would say, "It'll be an A-Bomb from A-Rod!"

Alex Rodriguez for those not in the NY media market.

Ryan Howard is the best bet to break Roger Maris' single-season home run record. Alex Rodriguez, then Albert Pujols, is the best bet to break Hank Aaron's career home run record.

Barry Bonds holds no records. He cheated.

A-Rod will be the next to come along and could wind up with around 800 if he stays healthy.
