Just so you know, Six Flags is located in Gurnee, close to an hour and half from Chicago. While you are in Gurnee there is a gigantic mall called Gurnee Mills, just down the street from the Six Flags entrance.
Chicago has a lot to offer. Depending on your interests - there is top-notch shopping, hundreds of unique places to eat, and amazing museums.
Visit the Shedd Aquarium for a wonderful day of exploring aquatic wildlife, seal & dolphin shows, and amazing reptiles and other animals. The Museum of Sciene and Industry is currently offering a free CSI exhibit - see if you can solve a murder mystery based on the clues at the crime scene. They also have many amazing exhibits from modern and past technology to science fiction! And of course, there are plenty of other museums all in that area- expect to take up a day at each one. There are long lines, but it is well worth it.
Have fun :)
