20 tires is 10 pairs, so you qualify for the discount. 20 tires would normally cost 20*$60 = $1200. With a 30% discount, you only pay 70% of the original price, so that's 0.7*$1200 = $840.

Twenty tires is ten pairs, so you are entitled to the discount. At 30% off, they will cost 70% of the original price:
$60 * .70 = $42.00 apiece.
20 tires at $42 would be 20 * 42 = $840.

20 tires x $60 = $1200

discount 30% of $1200 and youi get

$1200 - 0.3*($1200) = $1200 - $360 = $840

do your own homework chickie..you will have to do the test on your own!!!
Here's how I would work it out..
30% of $60.00 = $18.00
(.30x60.0=18.0)
60.00-18.00= 42.00
6 pairs = 12 tires
12 x $42.00 = $504.00 dollars
20 x $42.00 = $840.00 dollars
I hope seeing the way I would do the problem helps you more than just giving you the answer !
