When purchasing a computer monitor, what is more important, the contrast ratio or the response time?

I am having a computer built and am trying to decide between two different Sceptre monitors.

Get the 22"

Slightly smaller but:

Better response time 2 ms Gray-to-Gray, compared to 8 ms
Better contrast ratio at 2000:1 compared to 1000:1

Much better resolution at 1680 by 1050 compared to 1440 by 900


The brightness is lower at 300 nits compared to 500. But that is more than bright enough for a computer monitor.

It really depends on what you plan on doing with the monitor. A lower response time is good for things like fast action gaming while a good contrast ratio will give you a better overall picture with darker blacks.
