Sometimes I do it too much because the present seems stagnant and boring, so I have to re-live those good times that were fun and nostalgic. The thing is, those memories weren't always as great as I currently perceive them; they just take me back to a time when life seemed simpler and happier than my current situation. Humans are always looking for some pinnacle of happiness, and when the current monotony of life seems depressing or uneventful, then we turn to those memories of a better place and time.

It can be harmful if we dwell on them too much. When that happens, it's time to forge ahead with something new and exciting in life.

My sister just left after a visit from across the country. We hadn't really hung out in 15 years. We took a few walks down memory lane and both of us were split between tears of pain and tears of laughter. While the painful memories were difficult to talk about, I'm glad we did, but we will probably stick to the funny stuff for a while. When I walk down my social memory lane, it is part laughing to tears and part cringing, depending on where I go. In any event, I enjoy it.

There are times where I will love to go back to memory lane and turn back the clock, but if that happens, our fate will never be the same again, be it for better or worst.

Cheers :)

Not always - some of my memories are horrible. But I do have some happy ones as well...and I can be quite nostalgic at times.
