Everyone of us use these words like it's bad. WHY?? When you check the dictionary from the past, these words were plain common words.

I think what happened was many people began to use them as a way to hurt and offend people. However in my personal opinion jackass is not that bad... or at least not as bad as calling a girl a B***H and a guy Gay. I actually have friends who dont care being called gay specially if they are out of the closet. Its all a matter of how you use them and who you use them with.

It's all about the evolution of language. Many words gain new definitions as time goes by often leaving their predecessors redundant. For example posh means upper class and was abbreviated from the phrase for "port out,starboard home" because these were the best (coolest) cabins on ocean liners which only the rich could afford. Now it's use has nothing to do with ships. Not really a good example, but the best I can come up with at the moment.

They can be used as common words with perfectly appropriate meanings, but often they are used with an intention to be inappropriate. It is not the word, but what it is intended to mean, that people have a problem with.

Bad "rap" is the expression.

The others comments suffice here. I can't add to their meanings without excessive use of words.

people started using them in ways to offend others, which in my opinion is very stupid
