I'm having issues with the built in wireless network on this labtop only (other wireless computer is ok). It shows to be connected at 11Mbs but shows no activity and will not connect. Wireless connection used to work with no issues. But I recently went on trip and connected to the hotel "wired" internet (I tried wireless but would not work). Now at home, the wireless does not work. I had a computer savy friend look at it and was able to connect temporary but but then had no signal. Now it seems that I have signal but no activity. I also tried "system restore" to earlier times but the computer would not restore at all (is this another problem).

Are you connecting to your own router? You may be getting the wrong router and getting blocked by their security settings.

In which case right click on the wireless icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (it looks like a little monitor with 3 curved lines by it.)

Click on View Available Wireless Networks. Double click on your router.

This may or may not be your problem.

If you're connecting to your router then you may have a DNS problem or an IP Address problem.

Sounds like you are saying that your computer says that you are connected but you cant get a webpage to load up. I have had this problem before and it meant my encryption settings weren't correct. If you have encryption on your wireless network you need to verify that they are correct. You may also try renewing your IP address. Open a command prompt and type: ipconfig/renew

I suspect the wireless configuration on the notebook does not match the needed particulars set up on the router. Review the notebook wireless config and make sure it matches.
