Try looking at Hotels on Travlocity. Also, different days matter aswell. Checking in on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday is more expensive.

The Silversmith Hotel, formerly the Crowne Plaza Silversmith is a great destination in downtown Chicago. Walking distance to the Magnificent Mile the hotel is located on South Wabash and is in the middle of the Financial and Theater districts. There is also a fabulous restaurant in the ground floor of the hotel called Ada's. I was there in March and they had a travel zoo rate of $97.

The Hilton Garden Inn on Grand Ave. is a very nice hotel in downtown Chicago. I've personally stayed there and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it.
When you first walk in, you're greeted by the scent of the Weber Grill restaurant which is located in the hotel.
When you step outside the hotel, turn to your right, and walk 200 feet, and you'll find yourself on Michigan Avenue, the Magnificent Mile, where there's all kinds of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
You're also just a short walk away from Disney's ESPN Zone.
Rate is currently $179/night.

Most of them. A room for $250 a night is on the high end of the scale. YOu can stay pretty much anywhere. Try the W Hotel Lakeshore. It's pretty swanky, has great view of Lake Michigan, is close to navy Pier and Michigan Ave. shopping and has a hip club right in the hotel lobby. There's also a rooftop nightclub called Whiskey Sky that is popular with regular Chicagoans who ARENT guests of the hotel.

Never been to Chicago, but I suggest you visit travelzoo.com . then on the home page, look under lodging specials and click on Chicago and midwest. Looks like some excellent deals there.
