The Lost Weekend with Ray Miland (if that's what you're talking about) is absolutely one of the best BUT there are many others...few, I'm sad to say, have been made in the last 35 years.
Gone With The Wind
A Streetcar Named Desire
The Godfather parts 1 & 2 (3 stunk)
Wuthering Heights (with the most dashing handsome Lawrence Olivier' when he was young)
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
My Favorite Year
Misery
I Am Sam (which Sean Penn deserved the Academy Award for)
Shall We Dance? (Delightful! You don't have to think about it...just enjoy!!)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Tootsie
The Graduate
The Little Colonel (with Shirley Temple)
St. Elmo's Fire
The Breakfast Club
Terms of Endearment
Fried Green Tomatoes
Primary Colors
Sling Blade
I could go on and on but my tastes appeal to the performance and the actor rather than how "cute" or "beautiful" or "sexy" the person is. I like the storyline, not the glamour.
Not to be forgotten is the ORIGINAL version of The Bad Seed and absolutely ANYTHING with Katharine Hepburn in it.
Alfred Hithcock's films were great..my favorite...Dial M For Murder.
You asked the wrong lady kid...I've probably got panyhose older than you...I was 7 yrs. old when Martin Luther King Jr. was shot (so you have an idea how ancient I am). My Dad saved every playbill (they used to give those out at movies...along with a door prize of a dish which is now worth a LOT of $$$ because it is called"Depression Ware")and they got 2 cartoons, a newsreel, and a double feature for 50 cents. My Dad passed away in2005
at 73 and he was the "Love of My Life"....don't mean that in a sick way...he was just my best friend and "schleping" buddy (even thought we were'nt Jeweish) and we did everything together. Movies just aren't what they used to be.
