I've done 4 donations..there are a lot of risks but most are minimal. Most likely side effects from the meds are bloating, pms symptoms, headaches and can make you b*tc*y. During the process you have to have frequent (2 of mine were every single day appts) Dr early morning Dr appts for vaginal sonograms & blood draws to keep a close watch on how yoru follicles are maturing and your E2 levels. This way they can adjust your meds as needed. There is a risk of hyperstimulating which isn't that rare of happening and can be dangerous if not treated promptly. With the procedure itself there are risks of infection, perferation of the uterus, infertility. Here's a site of where I did 2 of my donations through..there is tons of info about the process. It can be a hard and difficult process and you can have no fear of needles but it's worth the rewards!!

I was 90% completed with my donation process when I actually got pregnant myself (accidentally) then miscarried unfortunatley. I was chosen by a couple in France, and had everything planned out - and about a week before I was to start the hormone injections they found I was pregnant. What a slap in the face!

The procedure is very safe, and the doctor I was seeing said he would let his own daughters do it.

They give you fertilization shots that you must take for 2 weeks, then they go in with a needle (into your uterus) and extract about 15-20 eggs. It is pretty much painless, and it takes about a half hour.

you go through the same procedure a woman undergoing IVF does, you have to use hormones to stop your cycle, then to restart it and encourage as many eggs as possible to ripen. You will get very bloated, and hormonal. The dr will use a catheter to harvest eggs, you will probably be under general anestesia. I would not do it, I feel that my eggs are for my use only!!! Selfish? maybe, but its my body and my babies!!!
