angle it slightly upwards (towards your lower back) don't pt it in straight up. I think you'd have better luck with the Pearls. Plastic applicators are usually more comfortable.

Try using a lubricant like KY silk-e vaginal moisturizer. You can buy it at a drugstore/grocery store. Put a dab on top and the tampon should slide in easier. You should figure out how heavy/ light your flow is, and that will help you determine which tampon to use. I think the tampax pearl plastic goes in pretty easily. You could also talk to your mom! Also, if the tampon hurts too much, try a pad!

First you wash your hands. Next you open the wrapper and if its a compact you pull the back tube out. Next you find a comfortable position like on the toilet with your knees apart or one leg up on the seat. Now you insert the tampon towards your lower back until your fingers touch your body. Then you just push the tube in and you have inserted a tampon!! It should be comfortable, if its not then you may not have inserted it far enough. Dont worry it takes many people a few tomes to get it. Just pull on the string to get it out and try again. Well good luck and have fun at the party!

I personally used the Tampax Pearls...they slide in easier...I didn't start using tampons though till recently and I am 24...i don't know if there is an "age limit" to when and when not to use them, but I usually sit with my legs spread on the toilet and just relax and slide it in..its kinda hard to explain...
don't you dare skip the party just cause of your period!! :-D Go have fun with your friends, i'm sure there are others on their period too...

It depends on the person but the plastic ones good for the first time as it slides in easier.
To insert put one foot on a toilet seat and then find your vagina and slide in towrds the your back upwards( at an angle ) then the tampon out of the applicator throw away hid the string and carry on as noraml (tampons - toilet wrappers-bin) dont worry its no big deal just dont forget to change it and. the main thing is to just RELAX if your tense it wont go in, try reading a calming book or listening to music first. RELAXXXX xxxxx dont worry hun :]

use the tampax pearl ones!
im not sure why you wouldnt be able to get it in all the way.
the plastic applicator shud just slide in.
maybe your not doing it right.
if your using the tampax pearl one
just put it in, dont be afraid . it wont hurt
once its in just push the stick of the applicator up
and pull it out. this shud leave the tampon inside you
where its supposed to be

id use the pearl...
i've had the same problem i had to sneak tampons out of my dad's girlfriends cabinet cuz i dont want to ask..and we was goin swimming. i didnt even tell them for 6 months.
it helps me when i pit it in 2 take off my underwear all the way and squat down on the floor and just stick it in. it always feels wierd the 1st time but you get used to it.
also going swimming dont worry about it falling out it wont trust me! it might feel like it but it doesnt.
also make sure you go to the bathroom before putting it in because you cant go to the bathroom after putting it in and trust me once its wet its not reusable!
goodluck!

When I first tried tampons, it took me forever to get it in. I use Tampax slender ones. Its easier to put in with plastic but the tampon is bigger and harder to put in, so I would keep trying the slenders. Aim for your curve in your lower back.

It's very wierd and awkward at first, but it won't hurt at all. After practice, you get used to it. Good luck!
