Exodus 3:5 ...Take off your sandals for the palce where you are standing is holy ground.
Our youth band does this when they play and many of the youth members do it during service.

well I would make an assumption that it was because Jesus did not wear shoes, but my wife is a Ozzy osbourne fan and I discovered he does not wear shoes either on stage and I don't think it's for the same reason..I do know Ozzy once mentioned that the stage floor gets wet and he would sense the bad areas better to assure better footing without falling down, but he did that oo, when he was drunk all the time..so it was to aid him in falling down less, because it usually was booze he slipped on! As for the Christian bands..if they move quickly around on the stage, then it might be for more sure-footings, if not a symbolic expression!
