The same hormones which help ur uterus contract to get rid of the menstrual blood cause your intestines to contract causing abdominal cramps and diarrhoea, so its normal.
However tampons if kept for prolonged periods may be responsible for infections(previous cases have been recorded) which present with fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, so be careful.

It's VERY normal. Your body secretes hormones that cause the muscles of your uterus to contract which help to expell the menstrual blood. These hormones can also work on the muscles in your intestines and cause the intestines to move food debri along too fast, which doesn't give it enough time in the gut for all the water/liquid to be drawn out. If food is hurried through the intestines quickly without the fluid being removed, you have diarrhea. Just one more sucky thing about that "monthly blessing"! LOL!

It is common among women with bad cramps to have diarrhea during your period. Tampons have nothing to do with it.
I used to get it during my periods in my teens and 20's. I didn't wear tampons back then.

Yeah its normal. try eating some cheese (i know it sounds bad) something about cheese naturally binds us up down there.
i nibble on some velveeta cubes while im on my period to help it from happening, and it works great. Also the calcium in the cheese helps with cramps
i dont need to be anymore uncomfortable down there than i already am
