I am 25 year old female with a 55 lb dog. (A lot of places don't allow dogs from what I've seen.) I am looking for a place within walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping, and anything else worth doing, but that is also dog friendly (ie:yard or park nearby)

Any info would be great, thanks so much!

Ok, well thanks to the one person who has answered with something helpful so far. Apparently not many people out there are willing to help me. Thank you very much.

You might want to try the Queen Anne area. I don't know what the prices are like now(lived there 5 years ago). But I really loved it. You can walk to many places. What I loved about it too was if I wanted to go somewhere in downtown(belltown or pioneer square or the Market) I could take a long walk, a cheap cab ride or a free bus(usually if you stay in the downtown area).
Try the Wallingford and Fremont area's too. They have some great little neighborhoods.
One thing about Seattle is it is pretty close to many parks.
Also if you don't mind living a bit away from seattle. downtown Bellevue is great. I lived there and could walk everywhere. We were close to Lake Washington and blueberry farms as well as restaurants and shops and a movie theater. It also has a good bus system that you can ride for free around the downtown area and many buses that go over to Seattle relatively cheap. Also Bellevue has some amazing parks and dog parks.
Good luck!

There are three good areas for you, all in the northern part of Seattle, which is beautiful, hip, with lots of restaurants and shopping, AND a lot of dog-friendly parks. Here we go: First: Madison Park. Near Lake Washington Blvd. On a sunny day (and there are some!) Drive along the blvd. all the way to Seward Park. GORGIOUS!! Second:The Queen Anne District. All of the above. Great bus service if you don't have a car. And Third: The University District. Very hip, trendy shops, great restaurants. Come on up!! Sorry I couldn't list them better. I need help with my keyboard. :) -L

You might have to look for a house to rent or at least look for a private landlord with apartments (as opposed to an apartment complex or a property managed by a managment company.) Seattle is a pretty dog-friendly city, but most of the "managed" properties are going to frown on a dog that size. Try craigslist, maybe. Seattle is full of park and off-leash dog areas, so pretty much neighborhood you choose is good (even highrise dogs downtown have a bit of off-leash area in Belltown.) I live in Ballard and I can't walk my dog in my neighborhood without running across at least half a dozen dogs... they all have to live somewhere. And we're a walker-friendly neighborhood: there's shops, restaurants and bars down on Market and in the adjacent historic district. I can walk to the Locks from my apartment, the bus service to downtown is convenient and there's a beach and a dog park right here in the neighborhood.

The dog is a pretty big issue around here, especially at 55 lbs. Every neighborhood in Seattle is quite different from the other. Ballard might be a good fit for you. The buses are great, there's parks around, easy access to downtown by bus and many restaurants and shops on Market Street. The prices are still reasonable, but won't be for long. Too many people have caught on to Ballard.

Capitol Hill, there's everything you could think of.... we love dogs in Seattle and I've probably seen bigger dogs then yours! I don't know if you have a car, but you don't have to have one in that area. There are plenty of restaurants and entertainment, everyone always talks about the rain, but its SUNNY TODAY! there major malls, small boutiques, and shopping districts, bars are all around (We know how to party) you should try craigslist and yahoo maps so you can figure out the distance of everything and if you need anymore help just let me know

There's a bunch of great apartments by the river in Redmond WA. They are by the river and about 20 miles and half a hour from Seattle. There's a park called Marymore Park where you can take your dog about a block or two away. There's a couple reserants less than half a block away.

Get your dog a raincoat and goloshes, you'll be walking him in the rain most of the time.
