64 of 100 U.S. Senators are lawyers.
178 of 435 U.S. Representatives are lawyers.
This is much too high. Since Congress makes laws, it is reasonable that a large contingent is from the legal community. But, representation from other disciplines is also needed. Our political leadship should include more creative people, more technicians, more military, more farmers, more teachers, and more people that understand the effect of laws on the lives of our citizens. It is supposed to be representative government.
