Well.. I am currently 17, and have had my period since I was about 10. Ive always had irregular periods.but..

For ex., November of 2006, I had a record lasting period: 28 straight days. No cramps, no pain.. just bleeding. Very HEAVY bleeding for a few of those days.. sometimes having to change my tampon every 45 mins.

Then, after that I didnt have a period again until probably March or April of 2007. Idk..

I was wonderin if there is somethin wrong.
I kno there is.. but I am thinkin if I go to the doctor, they
are just going to put me on birth con. or somethin.
& I dot want that.. I want to know if there is a serious
problem.

What do you think?
Oh, sorry if I wasn't really clear.. here is a calander
of what if they are usually like..
Jan- no period.
Feb- no period.
March- period lasting 28 days.
April- period lasting 6 days.
May- period lasting 2 days.
June- no period.
July- no period.
Aug- no period.
Sep- period lasting 17 days.
Oct- no period.
Nov- no period.
Dec- no period.

Ok so this is a major issue that you really need to get help for. Now I know you are not really interested in getting on birth control but what may have to be done is that you may have to take hormone injections. I can't stress this enough, you need to go see a doctor. By not going and waiting so long, you are putting yourself at risk for several diseases. There is nothing that you can do on your own that will make this better. But one really bad thing that you are doing to your system is potentially wrecking the chance you have to conceive in the future. Hope this helps.

Yes that is abnormal and you should seea doctor. there is a good chance he/she will put you on birth control. If that is something youare strongly apposed to let the doctor know.
I, personally will not take birth control i dont like it and refuse to take it, my doctor knows this and if I ever had a problem where i needed to take it he would have to find something else to solve the problem....and chances are there is another road to take.

currently bc pills are used to "cover up" the syomtoms of many things like Polycistic ovarian syndrome or PCOS (medical science does not fully understand PCOS so they use birth control to "control" it) while there are other options like surgery of hormones.

Though on the other hand birth control will regulate your beriods through hormones...........but that does not let you know WHY your periods are so eratic.

just let him/her know birth control is not an option because of personal feelings and you would like to here more options on ways to help your body function properly.

As far as the problem Do you take any medications? they may have an effect on your menses or if you are very active (run track...Gymnastics) those can cause you to be irregular or miss periods. That schedule you have up there is really messed up though.

yo should deffinantly see a doctor though...
good luck

Although irregular period is common for young girls, your irregularity & the way you bleed is abnormal.

See a O&G

If treatment/prescription is needed, just accept it.

Better to have the problem resolve ASAP and lead a healthy life thereafter.

Yes you need to go to the doctor and get it checked out. And yes, the might put you on birth control. But that is something the doctor will decide, but you need to go. That is very abnormal!

You need to go to a doc. This is not normal (I'm not sure you could even call it an irregular period)
