I am a security supervisor for a major company contracted by a security company. The manager was fired three weeks ago due to complaints people calling off and treating people badly. Since then I have been acting in that position but have been dogged out by the company. They told me they wouldnt pay me anymore money that I wasnt worth anymore and they dont want me in that position but when they asked the client has there been any problems since ive been charge they said no. But my company wants me out and wants to put a 65 year old man in this spot. Today they came in and changed the schedule after I worked it out and they are shorting my officers paychecks and not supporting me or the officers. I have several people ready to quit including myself. I am truly stressed out and cant take the bull no more what should I do quit or stay?

For starters, if everyone is unhappy you should approach them as a spokesman for the group and make sure management understands the problems. If they don't fix it, they will have to deal with the huge turnover.

As far as if you should stay or go, if you're not happy with the job you should find another.

The company has already told you that they are putting the brakes on the advancement opportunity that became available when they fired the manager and you indicate they are shorting paychecks and not supporting you or your officers, all of which are huge red flags to look for work eslewhere. Your strongest competitor should be your first choice as a company that does not value its employee that it contracts out isn't going to attract and retain the best people for the job and it is a good chance that the contracts they have with businesses will not be renewed (or they may already be in that position and are hoping people will quit so they don't have to pay unemployment).

Tough one. If there are enough people ready to quit to make the management pay attention, then perhaps a group walk out is in order. You have a good reputation with the clients, you may be able to take over the accounts yourself? On the other hand, they've already made it clear that they're trying to force you out. If you stay, do the right thing, keep your head high, and make them fire you, you have grounds for unemployment at the least, and perhaps a lawsuit (or group suit). Consult an attorney, and hang in there, no matter what you decide.
