are we really a world of animal lovers?

please answer my poll im compiling a graph to see if we truly are animal lovers. do you have pets if so what do you have and how many and why?

i have 3 cats and a huge rabbit i also have the ashes of 2 other cats in mt bedroom.

this is just a poll not some official cencus and those who abuse animals are not exactly going to answer this poll and tell everyone that are they,?.

I love animals so much.

I have 2 dogs. One is a German Pinscher and another is a Yorkie.

2 guinea pigs. One is an English Smooth Coat and another is a Sheltie guinea pig.

2 cats of mine are Short-haired and one is an Abyssinian.

2 parakeets that I adopted from the shelter in Boston while on vacation.

(I'll be getting a pomeranian puppy in August!!!)

1 cat. We live in a small townhouse, our cat is solitary, and that is the best environment for us and our cat.

In any case, how does counting your pets indicate whether or not we are animal lovers? Those statistics do not necessarily indicate the level at which we love animals. I only own one cat. Do I love animals less than a crazy woman that owns 180 of them? I think not! Or what of someone who owns several dogs, but abuses them? Hmm...

But here is an interesting anecdote that says something about our world of animal lovers: about six of seven years ago in Los Angeles a man got in a fender bender with an old lady. He got out of his car and confronted her, grabbed her toy poodle, and threw it into traffic. The dog was killed. That story made national news and was on the front page of the paper that day. The LA Times said that they got more reader responses to that story than anything they had written in ages.

That same day a child was murdered by his father in roughly the same area. It got no national attention, and was buried in the middle of the paper. Doesn't prove whether or not we are a world of animal lovers, but is a powerful piece of evidence that suggests we are, indeed! Sad, but true.

Some of us are others are not. I'm a vegetarian and I've got two cats, two guinea pigs and a betta fish. But overall, no I believe that we don't really love animals as a whole. People eat them, use them to needlessly test things on, kill them and abuse them for no reason. They needlessly suffer because of us and most of our pets aren't happy either because not enough people do research befor they get thier pets and stuff like that. No we are not a nation of animal lovers, in fact we kill more animals that most countries for food and thruogh animal testing.

I'm a dog person. Not really a big fan of other domesticated animals although I would never cause them any harm. Considering the amount of homeless animals in shelters all over the country I don't think there are nearly enough animal lovers.

Yes I have a german shephered, a chihuahua, a toy fox terrier, a black hooded rat, a satin guinea pig, 15 betta fish! ( no worries they're all in different bowls) and tommorrow I'm getting a mini Rex Rabbit. I have them because I love animals and I don't think my life would be complete without them.

I have a Min Pin named Memphis I rescued from a shelter, plus 3 cats. All rescued pets. I had a 4th cat however I lost her to Leukemia a few years back. If i had a bigger place i would have more! :D

I own five dogs, 1 soon to be 2 cats again, and have a house of fosters. I have them because no one else wanted them.

I'm an animal lover. 2 dogs and one cat. I would have more but money and time is tight.

My family has a dog and a cat because we love animals. We like watching them play and their behavior and we love playing with them.
