Senator Kennedy attached the Hate-Crimes bill to the Defense Authorization Bill. Just wondered how many people agree with Senator Kennedy using the bill that would help fund our troops to get the Hate-Crimes bill passed. I hear they're trying to pass it this week.
FYI-
The Defense Authorization Bill pays for our troops. Amongst other things it gives special compensations and bonuses, basic military pay, housing allowances, health care professional special pay, subsistance allowances, emergency leaves of absence etc. to our troops
The Hate Crimes Bill would extend special protection status to homosexuals, bisexuals, and transexuals. It would cause any crime against them (even speaking against them) to be prosecuted more severely than crimes against lets say an elderly person.

Just for the record, I don't agree with amendments that don't have anything to do with the original bill being attached to any piece of legislation- no matter who does it. I think this one is especially low though.

Politics is a muckrakers game at best. With that in mind, so long as folks are not bothering you and paying taxes (which many multinational corporations do not) why should they not have a right to exist as they feel in their individual hearts?

I do not agree with the Hate Crimes Bill. This is a far-left agenda that is supposed to elevate gays, lesbians, and bisexuals above the vast majority of people who are straight. This is wrong. While I am opposed to harrassing these people or harming them in any way for their sexual orientation, they should not have special protections. If they choose this lifestyle, then they had best get a tough skin for teasing. Everyone has gotten teased. In this anything goes society, if you are black, people are supposed to stand in awe of you; if you are gay, people are supposed to worship you; if you are gay AND black, you are a god. I was teased for being skinny when I was a kid. Is Teddy trying to tell us something? Is he coming out of the closet?

I think that Ted Kennedy is a low life drunk and only did that because he knew his hate crimes bill wouldn't pass otherwise.

What a jerk he is. Why on earth do the people of Massachusetts keep electing him?

Only the Democrats can support a murderer by reelecting him every time.

The Blob of Mass. needs to go absorb some more McDonald's and leave legislation to those who respect the rule of law.

It is exactly what I would expect from a Stalinist. Extend thought crime legislation for those that don't think correctly.

I don't think your fully analyzing the situation. This addition will pull Democratic votes in favor of the bill. This actually helps you.
