i asked this question before: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AizS9ebAc7jJFDFBCRI4mRnsy6IX?qid=20070715073244AA83tYD

i took it in and had it fixed. it was the water pump. he also changed out the lube in the crankcase. he ran it for 15 minutes and it was fine. i brought it back and it was running great. i had it going full blast for over 5 minutes then it slowed down and died. the only way it will run now is idle and it stuggles when its in gear becuase after all, all its doing is idleing. i try to give it any gas and it sounds like its bogging down or something and dies. even when its warm i have to choke it to start it. didnt have to before. i checked all the lines and they are fine. gas is new. i didnt have the vent open and the gas can was caved in so i opened the vent and it was still doing it. could that have messed up the carb or something. also, in nuetral it will rev fine but the trottle can only go so far in nuetral- to the start position. any ideas? thanks

i took the cover apart. i took the plugs out and one was loose and a bunch of oil came out and the other was soaked which made me think that one aint fireing. plug the wire on that one was all spliced apart. i resoldered it, got new plugs, let the cylenders air dry out. i checked the carb and the bolt on the bottom was loose becuase the rubber washer was worn. i tightened that and wiped up all the **** that came out of the cylinders and let it dry out.cleaned it up, primed it, took it out for a half hour and was purring pretty nicely i didnt have it open fully ( i dont think) but probably in between 3/4-full throtlle and down and up and revving. it seemed good. ill take it out later and fish and tonight ill let the cylinders dry completely out. and check the plugs. plus the way the motor was leveled, i had it too down so basically the motor was trying to push the boat up at the same time. it was level at idle, not at running speed. i changed that and was perfectly level while i drove.

It sounds like it is starving for fuel...and when you put a load on the engine it dies. So start with the simple stuff......run it on a different tank with a new hose and primer bulb just to eliminate that the tank and hose are not your problem. Then go to the fuel lines on the inside of the engine cover and ensure they are not loose or cracked...if so replace them. If that don't fix it, you most likely have a carb problem and cleaning or rebuilding it should take care of your problem. If you remove the carb you will need to complete a good tune up once you reinstall it and check your timing.

Sound like you have trash in the carb. clean it. Should take care of it.

did you remove the exhaust cover and inspect the pistons like i said? if one or both are bad it will never run right.
