This report came out today about Yi Jianlian.

The team has made several statements saying that they will not trade him. The Chinese club that he plays for won't let him play for Milwaukee. It looks like neither team is budging.

I don't see either team budging now. If Yi is still signed with a Chinese team, Milwaukee could realistically hold him out of the NBA for two years. If not, it would only be one. If China's only concern is the Olympic games, why should Milwaukee accommodate them?

I think part of this may be China testing their limits in what they can do in the NBA. If they can get away with this, they'll continue to do it with any player that comes to the NBA from China. I think Milwaukee needs to stand firm here and not let China tell the NBA what to do.

Should the Bucks just stand firm and not trade him, or should they trade and try to get what they can?

Probably. Milwaukee is high in not trading Yi, and even if he does leave Milwaukee, he'll probabl play on the Pacific (he wants to go to Golden State, obviously). However, look at Yao Ming. He plays at Houston, and he is doing fine.

yeah, no NBA team should take him. What kind of attitude does he have to be a rookie in the NBA and decide a team isn't good enough for him? He should be so lucky to be in a such a great league and make such great money. Play a few years and get better, then once your worth is shown, then throw your weight around! Punk!

They shouldn't sign him, they should release him and let him go back to China because he sure doesn't want to play in the NBA.
