This is what they did for me:
1. Took weight and blood pressure to get a baseline
2. Took a urine test to check levels in the urine and to confirm pregnancy
3. Took a TON of blood to send out for lab work (including blood type, HIV test, RH, and blood pregnancy test)
4. Did a pap test, pelvic exam and breast exam
5. Got mine and my husband's entire medical and family history
6. Talked to use about what I should and should not be eating or doing
7. Talked to us about what medications I should and shouldn't be taking
8. Gave me my estimated due date
9. Scheduled the first ultrasound to confirm due date and check that the pregnancy was viable
They may also do the first ultrasound right then and there or check for the heart beat with a doppler if your girlfriend is far enough along.
Best of luck and congratulations!
EDIT: 5 weeks is too early for a doppler, but not for an ultrasound.

They will draw blood. Give you a pap smear probably. They may or may not do an ultrasound. With it being this early I think that they will only do an ultrasound if there is some doubt as to when exactly the baby was conceived. This early on if they do an ultrasound it will be internal. In my ob's office they bring the ultrasound machine into the room and they have an attachment to it that they put a condom on(so, let them know if you are allergic to latex) and they put it in your vagina and with a little bit of luck they will be able to see the baby. Yes, you will probably get a picture or 2. Hope this helps.

On my first doctor's visit (I was 7 weeks) I received a pap smear and a vaginal ultrasound. I was able to see my little baby and I heard the heartbeat. My doctor also took a vaginal sample and view it under a microscope for infections. I'm 14 weeks now and I just heard the baby's heartbeat again through a Doppler. Good luck and God bless!

They do a complete work up, blood drawn, pap, breast checks.... may even try to hear the heartbeat, though they probably won't be able to hear anything this early.

I also got a freaking breast exam... very embarassing. My second visit is when I had an ultra sound. I ended up switching doctors and so on my 3rd visit I got my blood taken. Oh, you always get to pee in a cup... every time. So be prepared. You also get measured
