Drafting someone isn't always just about ppg. Remember, assists, rebounding, defense, steals, blocks, and athletism are just as important. Also remember that different teams have different needs. Chicago probably felt that they needed some defensive stopper on their teamt hat could rebound, play good defense, and block shots. Noah was that person for them.

It's all about the level of competition and how the individuals skill set translates to the pro game. You have to understand the pros are completely different than the college game. The pro game is played above the rim, the college game is all about making open shots, passing the ball and playing good defense and creating turnovers. Your comparison with Almond and Durant or Noah is off because Almond played for Rice, whereas Durant played on Texas in the Big 12 and Noah played for Florida in the SEC. Both of those teams played in much, much harder conferences and played much harder schedules and in general against much higher competition. That's not to say Almond isn't good, he clearly can play. And you said Almond didn't get drafted, he actually was drafted in the 1st Round by the Utah Jazz at #25.

He didn't play for a big college basketball school and therefore didn't get as much media coverage. Gotta get yourself in the media in order for people to know who you are. If your games aren't covered then you won't get the amount of exposure that Joakim Noah and Kevin Durant did. Personally i think Noah is terrible.

Scoring the most points in some cases may not help your NBA stock or promise that you'll have a (long)career in the league. It's 50/50, look it up in the past 30-40yrs how many D1 scoring leaders went on to have good NBA careers.

1. he couldnt win games for rice
2. his professional carreer is not over, he still has a chance to work his way up starting at a CBA team.
3. there are also international teams in italy and places to keep his NBA type skills fresh

i agree, he is a good player, but not enough attention out of Rice though

There's alot more to a player than points per game.
You have to look at his competition, conference. his experience.
Also teams have requirements for types of players: guards, forwards, centers.
Good centers are difficult to find, which is why Oden was selected first.
Also the salary cap plays a part in which teams have shooting guards but need a point guard.

Depends on strength of schedule, and just the kind of player he is. Maybe he can score that many points but does he play defense?
