"Appear" to? Many American citizens really do disrespect the President.
I would be *more* concerned with a President whom everyone liked with a 98% aproval rating than one generally disliked with a 25% approval rating.

First of all, questioning his judgment and his blind allegiance to failed policies is not necessarily disrespectful.
Second of all, I defy the notion that he was actually elected twice. The first time he was handed it by the Supreme Court, the second time, well, let's just say those electronic voting machines don't have paper trails for a reason.
Last but not least, he is the most stubborn and unyeilding person, who is not in anyway representing the will of the majority of Americans. This is not the mark of a good leader; it is the mark of a great despot.

Actually, he wasn't democratically elected in 2000. He was put in the White House by his dad's friends in the Supreme Court. Also, if he had any backbone or brains, he would have focused on going after bin Laden instead of Saddam, since bin Laden was directly responsible for the 9/11 attacks and Saddam had nothing to do with them.

We always appear to disrespect our president. Democracy in action is loud and generally a bit snarky. The Founders used to get into pistol duels and whatnot; it's history.
However, this one's "backbone" is pretty much constructed of other people's opinions and I respect him not at all.

True Patriot hates her country, the way I see it.
She must hate the fact that we as Americans have free speech and can voice our opinions.
She must also hate the fact that the same right of free speech gives our press the ability to tell the people when our elected officals have compromised their offices, sold out Americans, negated the Geneva Convention, padded their own pockets and without regard to the people or the troops.

Assuming that ones who do lack respect of him are not deserving of respect themselves, and have no specific value anyway. So why do they disrespect him, because these kind of people have no respect for anything or anybody including themselves.

Because the current president is a feeble-minded, lying, delusional little coward who has never done anything to earn anybody's respect.

because respect needs to be earned, and you only give respct to those who give it to you. Bush doesnt treat americans with respect by leaving them in the dark about his decisions, and believeing he is exempt fro mthe rules that the rest of us must folllow.
