Scott Linebrink had 36 last year for San Diego and that's the most since the stat was introduced

Holds are the most pointless idiotic stat in baseball.

A guy can come in and walk 3 hitters straight without getting an out and still get a hold. Pointless stat.

Maybe Rivera back on yanks when he was a setup man for wetteland. That would be my guess to your question.

Who cares?
That's just another bogus pseudo-stat for those roto/fantasy geeks and pitchers' agents. Middle relievers are the worst pitchers in baseball, and don't deserve a stat, anyway, except for the numerous losses they incur. . . .
