If you were much sensible you would know that both words can be the best . For example if you be honest and say harsh words you are being rude not polite and if you are polite and you dont tell the truth then you are being dishonest not honest. Thus I can conclude by saying that both words are the best in their own ways .

Politeness. I was thinking you can't really be polite without honesty, but then there's always the white lie; if someone asks you for your honest opinion, then give it, but don't be brash about it. Some people cannot take constructive criticism, so you have to put a spin of politeness on honesty in some circumstances in order to not insult someone.
