If one of my calipers are locked up how can i be sure? I looked at both sides and they look the same. How can you fix a locked caliper? If I changed my pads would that be good enough? My car is somewhat new....2005 Sunfire, only 43K miles

If it's not pulling at all to either side then the calipers are fine. And no changing the pads won't fix a stuck caliper. If the caliper was sticking you would smell a burning smell after about 1/2 miles of driving. Just have the rotor turned and don't listen to these other idiots.

A locked caliper most likely means that your brake master cylinder is not working correctlyand is going out. If you have ABS then dont bother messing with the master cylinder and get it to a brake specialist. If you decide to take your pads off and checking your calipers be careful and try not to pry on and use your rotors as leveridge. Use a C-clamp to press your calipers back in.

If the caliper is locked, the pistons (that move the pads) won't move. Sometimes you can fix them by lubricating the pistons, sometimes you can't. And if you change the pads, the one side will wear out while the other will hardly have worn. It will void the warranty on the pads.

most likely one side is worn more then the orther is because of rust and dirt build up just change the pads and clean the caliper and mount up real good with a wire brush and you should be fine.also install some caliper slide grease on moving parts

Do a complete brake job. That's about the miles the stock pads last , especially if you drive mostly in town
