I pulled a review of "Teen Witch" by Silver RavenWolf. An excerpt is below.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In the very beginning of the book, she states that she is "-one of the most famous Witches in the United States today" as a way of introducing herself to the parents of a teen who is investigating Wicca. This statement may be fact, but it is not the way to make the readers comfortable with the material.

The thumbnail description of Wicca is necessary, and it gives the reader a chance to define what they believe. By the third chapter, despite saying that Wicca is a religion over and over, she goes into Magick and Spells, continuing this topic for the next 8 chapters. Spells on this, spells on that, how to protect your locker with a spell, how to shop with a spell, how to gain money with a spell, never again focusing on the religion.

There is a reason Pagans refer to this person as $ilver. I won't have her books in my house. She encourages children to lie to their parents about their interests and that's all I need to know about her.

Silver Ravenwolfe is one of the WORST sources a new pagan or Wiccan can use. She is more concerned with the hype associated with wicca rather than the seriousness of the actual religion. More than once I've cautioned people to stay away from her works. The citations you're pointing out are just a few of MANY examples.

The Wicca confusion has been around since the beginning, every Wiccan believes something different, we're united in the fact that our beliefs are different from each other's. Silver Ravenolf has many good discussions in sevral of her books about the religious nature of Wicca and the practice of magick. I haven't read that particular title yet, but in several others she gives examples about how living a magickal life is living a spiritual life.

Silver Ravenwolf would do anything to make $
Just 1 example - teen witch kit (if thats how she calls it)
She needs to be more responsible towards anyone thinking of reading her books.
For her in Wicca, imho, magick is a necessity.

I have strong dislike towards this author

Just my thoughts

I'm not sure what "Wicca confusion" you are referring to. Are you meaning the idea that Wicca is just about magic? Ravenwolf certainly doesn't help in that regard, but she's not nearly the only source of the problem.

Is the book fiction? Then I'm afraid she's got creative rights to do whatever she wants with it. There's a technical term for it I can't remember at the moment. But you should always take with a grain of salt everything you read.

and christians pray to god for protection

spells are invocations and rituals used to focus and tap into the powers of the deity.

there are day to day ones and big ones.

just like prayering is a ritual in itself.

and just like praying for money, using spells for money is dumb. but for protection, it gives sense of security and an other worldly feeling that you are being helped.
