I have my hands full this summer with birthdays and baby shower expenses and a vacation to pay for. I'm overwhelmed and still trying to save at the same time. But something on my wish list just recently came on sale. I'm pretty sure that the price can't be beat. I can probably afford to get it at the end of the year but by then it'll be sold out and gone. Should I make the purchase now?

buy it now, skimp somewhere on the vacation, unless its a MAJORLY large purchase that will keep you from doing what you want at all... in the long run, you'll kick urself in a year when ur paying double for something you could have gotten on sale.

Well, you cannot totally deprive yourself.

However, you are not mentioning how much of an impact this will have on your savings. If it represents a double digit percentage of the savings then I would say no. If it is less than 10 percent then maybe. Less than five percent then pretty much yes. However, this is a one time thing. Do not go out and find something else next week that you love and do the same.

If you do buy it, take the receipt and make a copy of it (you may need to save the original). Take the copy and highlight the amount you spent and then tape this up to your bathroom mirror. That way, you will be reminded of how much you spent every day when you are getting ready. Just a reminder to not do it again any time soon.

Well, I would say no. But it depends.

What are you saving money for? Do you have something that you need to buy later, or is this a rainy day fund that will protect you from emergencies? Either way, you need to think about what your ultimate goal is, and then compare that to this item on sale. If the sale item is worth more to you than financial stability and peace of mind, then buy it. If not, then don't. Simple as that.

If it's for you, no. If it's a gift that you need for someone else, then yes.

No, you will regret it later. Just remember it's just stuff.
