There was a show called Playmakers, which was set around a fictional professional football team. It was an excellent show, but was pulled after one season apparently because the NFL put pressure on ESPN. They felt it made the NFL look bad, even though everything in the show was a pretty true portrayal of what life in the NFL is like.

Maybe look under "Series". I looked at the titles and didn't see anything that sounded like football, but i didn't click on any so i might be wrong.
