A baseball season is always a series of ups and downs. The teams that are able to persevere go to the playoffs and the others go home. The Yankees are 9 games back with a shot and they have a good team with the ability to make up a lot of ground in a hurry. However, they are in a position where they need the help of other teams to reel in the Red Sox within striking position. Don't count the Yankees out just yet.

The Red Sox have been better lately, but the Yankees are great and have been the better team in the past. I'm a lifelong Yankee fan being born in the Bronx and having lived in New York my whole life, but I very much respect the Red Sox becuase they are undoubtedly a good team and they did deserve that World Series ring. However, I believe that the Yankee are equally talented.

The chances aren't good. Boston and the Yankees will probably have around the same post-All Star break record. The Yankees have a much better chance of catching the Indians, who have a worse pitching staff than the Yankees.

If the Red Sox go .500 for the rest of the season, the Yankees will have to go over .600 for the rest of the season. The odds are very unlikely.

pitching just isn't there. clemens is not what they wanted. i like hughes a lot and i think he could be solid as soon as he comes off the 60 day dl. wang is pretty solid. proctor and rivera are fine. thats really about it. the red sox on the other hand have solid starting pitching and the bullpen is just solid. the red sox have no holes except for possible injuries

No, Boston's too good. They got it all. The Yankees are sputtering. Their pitching is not good.

Not a chance. Sure they're doing well, but boston won't lose that many games to fall behind
