All of these wars work in one form or another. The war on Drugs keeps people from thinking about how the drugs get over to this country, The war on education keeps the teachers from getting good paychecks, the war on terrorism allows the neo-cons the freedom of attacking any country with oil and the global warming thing is used to sell more hybrid vehicles, allow companies to sell the same products that they've been selling us with a safe for the enviroment sticker on it and sell it for a higher price. These things work for the greedy, irresponsible, sell-out, scumbag politicians and corporations.

UNLIKE Iraq, the word "war" is used in it's metaphorical sense. The wars on terrorism, and drugs are making some headway, but the funds they need to succeed are being appropriated to other government hand-out projects. There is no war on education, as most people are for rather than agains it. You failed to mention anoter key issue, the war on illegal immigration.

War on drugs: Though we will never eradicate the problem, there have been less drugs on the street since we started
War on education?
War on terrorism: same a the war on drugs...we will never fully eradicate the problem but we will stop many attacks...like we have since 9/11
War on Global warming: If Bush and China would put regulations on how much pollution goes into the air, we wouldn't have much of a problem.

No. The idea of all these fake wars is to keep the country riveted and scared of something. Even things we should fix, like the drug problem, terrorism or the damaged environment won't be fixed by a 'war'... they might get fixed if we simply started to do business differently... but: YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE BUSINESSMEN --IT'S UNPATRIOTIC!!!!
But so many Americans are convinced that war is the only reason to be proud of your country, so the rhetoric is the only thing that can be grasped.

These wars are very different.
Let's turn it around.
Give in. We could do that in the war against disease.
Since we can't make it work, as you say, ever "win", we should just give up.
Let's die.
Same with terrorists, drugs, etc. We can't "win", they will always exist. We can keep the level down so that we survive.
I'm still alive.
We're winning as long as that's true.
