I'm talking about the one that can help you to start the engine without a key. But what if I'm living in a place that weather is always perfect (not too hot/not too cold - southern cali)? Do I really need that to warm up my car before I approach to my car? (It seems to me that this is the only benifit for keyless starter, pls correct me if I'm wrong =)
Another question is, eventaully we still a KEY for ignition if we wanna drive off, right? So this keyless starter is not really keyless, I just wanna confirm. You still need to look for your remote to unlock the door, get in, and look for the key to put into the ignition, then drive off. Is this the right procedure? Since I just bought a new Cadillac and everybody is making fun of my car saying why it doesn't have keyless starter, but I really don't see what's the big deal out of it. Any info will be welcome, thank you very much.

Key less starters are useless in your situation.

The next time a friend ask why you didn't get one. Ask them why they paid extra for something they didn't need. The only smart person I see in this equation, is you.

But then again, your friends sound like people who would buy a car with A/C at the north pole..... Status Symbol rejects.

You're right. There's truly no need for a keyless starter. Even in cold climes there's no big deal to start the car, take the keyless remotes, lock the doors, and come back in a few minutes. They're just a convenience by cutting out many of the steps I mentioned above. And yes. You need the actual key to unlock the transmission and drive away. And the keyless starter will only run the engine in most circumstances for 10 minutes before it shuts the engine off to prevent you from running out of gas.

Your friends are just teasing you.

As to car bombs and the mafia...most detonators are wired to the transmission or the ignition switch on the steering wheel column.

Its a good thing to have if you live in certain parts of america.Any place that has a lot of snow and ice it great. Remote starters are a blessing to warm and clean ice from the car before you leave to go to work.Hope this helps

It's more for convenience than anything else, you can leave the a/c on so when the car starts it's already cool when you get in, the opposite for when it's cold out, but I drive a stick so I can't have remote start, they only work on automatics. If they are making fun of your car just ask them if they have it in their beaters

if YOU cant see a reason for it then your right you dont need one. sounds like your not lazy or spoiled!

i agree, cold climates are more suitable for this application, where i live it would be nice to have in the winter (even summer - but then you chance overheating) but im not so concerned to go out of my way for one. i do fine without one. i may however purchase on when my wife has her baby.
