I feel humble and grateful that not only they love me, but they feel comfortable enough to tell me.

If I understand the context, I am comfortable with it. If I do not understand the context, I am somewhat guarded. Mostly, I hope to be worthy of such an honor, but do not wish to break any commitment to anyone I am already in a relationship with, be it friendship, a professional relationship, a romantic relationship, or even a casual one. Love can be very complicated, and giving or accepting it indiscriminately without understanding what I am committing to, would be irresponsible of me. I can have "Storge" or ove of mankind for anyone. I can have Philial love, or love of mind for individuals that I have developed a relationship with over time, and whom I have developed a mutual respect with. I have "Eros" or physical love for a very limited number of people, and only after establishing a long term relationship based on mutual trust. I am currently in a lifetime relationship with one individual and have agreed to restrict , most physical manifestations of this type of love to that relationship. I can have Agape, or deep spiritual love for someone I have touched souls with. This is the deepest and most easily misunderstood form of love. It is not at all exclusive to any individual, but it is rarely felt and difficult to achieve. Love is a powerful word, and in the wrong hands, it can be a bullet in a poorly made weapon. AS I have said on many occasions, it can mean everything or nothing, depending on the way it is used. It can inspire trust or suspicion depending on the context in which it is spoken or written, and without mutual understanding, it can be a wedge that drives otherwise compatible individuals apart. Hope this helps.

It's lovely to be loved haha take it where i can get it ( love :)
but hey if the guy next door came out & said that he loved me i would be pretty worried as i'm married & if one of the females said likewise that would be a worry also
if it was said in the real world to me in a group situation & all the other friends heard ( like on here ) it would be fine i think!!!
especially if it was the normal thing people did & say hey i love ya moon :) yeah thats fine
i have family members & neices etc saying often that they love me
it seems really beautiful & excepted on here for some reason & i have no problem on here its so heart warming :) ☺☻♥♥

Hi Moon,
If it's from a person who I know is saying it because they mean it, it means a lot to me. It means everything to me. I hear those three little words from my daughters all the time. Not a day goes by without it said and it is said from the heart (because sometimes we are quite some distance apart and we mean it.) Even when it's not said, it's there. I think in really difficult times it is the love we have for others and the love that surrounds us that keeps us going.
If I tell a friend 'I love you' or let them know it through similar words I mean it. My best friend is a lot older than me. She doesn't have a big family and she shares holidays with myself and my daughters (or like last year my hubby and I went to Canada with my friend and her hubby). We are so different in nature but we understand each other and I know it means a lot to her having the love of my family.
Being told 'I love you' : it has to be because they mean it, to mean something to me.

the last job i did was home care for the elderly and i built up such a good rappor with the girls i worked with they still phone me for a chat and some say 'lov ya chuck' which i think is sweet and say it back. i dont mind people saying it to me im straight but doesnt bother me if its a good female friend who says it just shows people care which is nice as there are to many stuck up nasty people in the world today. Every night i send a text to polly and charlie saying love you night night but of course there my family and i will always say that to themxx :-)

When the words " I Love You " come from a friend, it means a lot. Somedays, when you're just a little "blue", it can really change the direction of the day.

I really only want to hear it if it's honest. A lot of people say I love you, and don't really mean it. My ex- best friend tells me she loves me, but I don't say it back since it's not how I feel anymore.

Mostly I like it. Sometimes it embarrasses me, like when Lexi always closes her phone calls with it, and I always forget. Then I wonder, does she think I should say it first sometimes?
But I do love my friends, even though it has not been my habit to say so frequently.

I'd say back: No way. I can't believe that. You must be joking. You are crazy. Go away.
I wasn't raised in an affectionate environment. But, I think I'm getting used to it now.
edit
I mean I'm getting used to the affection now.. :-)

I don't mind it, my girlfriends and I joke around and say it to eachother all the time. I'd be a little creeped out if a guy said it though. And I don't think my bf would really enjoy it either! lol.
