The point in life is a very hard thing to pin down for sure. I believe that the real point is a desire to not give up, to believe in yourself, and to know that you were put here on this Earth for a reason. You may not yet be privy to the reason for your birth but in due time it will become clear.
The striving for a nice house and nice car are nothing but material dreams. They have no real bearing on your happiness or on the reason for your birth into this world. Striving for a happy and healthy family should the primary goal there.
You will get pregnant when it is meant to be. If you can never do so, then it wasn't meant to be and there is another plan for you in this universe. There are options that would fulfill that deep and driving desire to be parents!
The biggest point here is this...'Life' is meant to be LIVED. Not regretted, not a pain in the behind, and not something that we have to fret over. Take it as it comes and wake up smiling the next day no matter what has been thrown you way. Dare 'IT' to just try and mess you up....you will win in the longrun. Live, smile, and pass those smiles along to someone who hasn't yet figured out that smiling will get you through the hard stuff.
Good luck my friend....

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Sorry to hear that things are not going as well as you hoped. Life can be tough and at times feel pointless, and there is a sense of futility - BUT there is also a flip side.

Try and look at the SMALLER picture for the moment, yep, that right THE SMALLER PICTURE.

Sit and think of all the small, petty things that you enjoy, like and gives you pleasure, even if its for a short time.

EG - reading a book, eating chocolate, watching Eastenders - etc etc

You will soon find that the list is extensive and even though a lot of those things may seem 'pointless' in their own right, when you look at the overall sum, it does help.

As for your baby hope, well GOOD LUCK ! Being a mum can be hard, but I cannot see why you would be no good at it.

All the best & take care.

I think it is just to be happy. Doing what you love-find a passion- whether it is helping the sick or taking pictures or painting.
I know what you are talking about though. Like the song by Linkin Park- "In the end" (it doesn't even matter).
You try to do your best and not get pushed out of the way. If you make difference most people are happier-since they have made someone else happy.
Overall, I think passion is the key to life. If you are passionate about something-it makes you happy and gives you a reason to be here.

There is no real 'point' to life. The universe doesn't care what we do with our life, and if you're not religious, there is no afterlife to try to gain access to by living a good life.

What we are left with is a choice. How do I want to spend my life? The point to life is what you make of it. Whether it is being a good friend, a good partner or a good parent, the ultimate responsibility for how you live is up to you. The way you will be remembered by those who will live after you is up to you.

If you see the point of life as being a good parent, but cannot conceive, then adopting a child, nuturing it, giving it every possible chance to make it's own choice on how it wants to live it's life may be an option.

Getting up in the morning and thinking that their is nothing to live for, that you wish it could all end (which I've thought), that your life is worthless (which I've also thought), happens. It's not a passing fad, rather, in my case, it was a call to examine who I was and who I wanted to be.

I realised that these feelings were cutting me off from the people I cared about, friends and family, because it was easier to sit at home on my own than to try and engage with them. But I discovered, thanks to two friends in particular, that accepting favours, accepting friendship and engaging with people on an emotional had a massive impact on my own sense of self.

I began to realise how important I was to these people, as important as they were to me, and that helped me overcome the dark feelings that I felt. Ultimately, I've decided that the point of my life is to be comfortable in my lifestyle, not rich or working 12 hours a day, to engage on a real level with my friends and to let people into my life, because it is only when you let down your defences that you can begin realise your own self-worth.

The happiest people that I have known are the ones who help other people.
2 women lived in a street. One had a high paid job and lived live to the full. Parties nightclubs holidays etc. The other devoted her life to caring for a Mongol child. One day the first, while driving her car saw the other standing at a bus stop with the Mongol child holding her hand. She pulled up beside her and said sadly. "You are wasting your life". "No", she replied, "You are wasting yours"

It's sad that you feel this low.
Have you tried seeing a doctor? We all feel that things are futile at some point in out life.
I was so depressed 6 years ago I was sent to see a phsciatric nurse (sorry, cant spell!). I think we all have highs and lows but if you feel like ending it all you must see a doctor. You have children to think of. If you're trying for a baby, feeling this low will not help you conceive. Are you getting support from your partner?

Please seek help if you feel you cant go on. There is always something to live for, things always get better. Be strong.x

Since you put this in philosophy ... does that mean you are having a baby to give your life meaning? You can not even begin to wish you were not here all the time should you get pregnant. I mean, what does that say about your attitude towards motherhood?

Think Monthy Python ... "life is a sexually transmitted condition with a 100% mortality rate". Unless you can see the funny side of it all, please don't have babies ...

I am not certain who told you that there was supposed to be a point to living, other than having a blast doing it, but they did you a terrible disservice, kiddo.
Life's purpose is to perpetuate life. Look at a mold colony on a piece of bread. Does it worry about getting toasted? It does not. It simply grows and does its "moldy" thing until the end.
The purpose of human life, contrary to the mouthings of overweaning fabulists, is to perpetuate human life. The fact that we can occasionally have a blast doing that is the one, true, real benefit of having a brain the size of two mangoes, and is the one real, true accomplishment of our current stage of evolutionary development.
Everything else, EVERYTHING ELSE, is mere window dressing on our purpose, such that it is.
So have lots of babies, make lots of love, and when you die, die with a big smile on your face.

Life is what you make it. Everybody thinks the same at some point and there are many philosophical views to this. If your religious then yo believe life is a test to see if you are worthy to enter heaven but if you are not religious (which i am not) then life is just for living and making the most of the short time you have.

Enjoy yourself!!
