Luke, the Cubs are 48-43, and Kendall is better than Rob Bowen, and we needed to get rid of Barret, all he did was cause problems

Being a huge Cubs fan all my life, I think he will. The Cubs needed some leadership at catcher (which they definitely didn't get with Barret, Koy Hill, or rookie Rob Bowen) and Kendell is a great leader. Also, he calls a great game behind the plate.
The Cubs have been missing Barret's bat in the line-up, and while Kendall is off to a slow start batting (his average is below .250) he is sure to heat up. He is a second half player. Another plus is his career batting average, which is .298, basically .300. He can be a good hitter.
Overall, I think it's good that the Cubs brought in a veteran catcher to hold down the fort and help them in the playoffs (if they can make it). Ever since Barret fought with Zambrano and Lilly, the Cub pitchers haven't trusted him as much. I think Kendall will build good trust with the Cubs pitching staff and bullpen and I think he will help the Cubs a lot.

Yes! He will help a lot. You can't count on Koy Hill and Rob Bowen (who was moved in this deal) to shore up the C spot. You get a seasoned veteran catcher, very solid defensively, in Kendall. He's also moving back to the NL - his hitting numbers were great in Pittsburgh, and were terrible in Oakland. Maybe a move back to the NL is exactly what he needed. The only problem is - Cubs pitchers have had 4 different catchers this season now. Kendall needs to stay healthy to provide consistency with his pitchers.

I'm an A's fan. I think that the trade was a deal that helped the A's out even more. They got "rid" of Kendall, who was hitting around .215 and lost his big payroll 12.5 mil per year? They got a prospect pitcher and a second string catcher. As for the Cubs, they are a rich team so it won't make too much of a dent in their wallet and will probably slightly help them.

Yes, of course. He'll make a huge difference. His numbers have been down this year, but he will provide leadership in the clubhouse. I expect his numbers to get better once he arrives to Chicago. He's back in the NL central...where he was a star for the Pirates. And as of late, he's batted .297 in this last 25 games and he has a .286 batting avg. in interleague play this year...so he does well against NL pitching. Plus he calls good games as well...he won't be getting into any fights with the pitchers either. In the end, he can't be any worse than Rob Bowen...nice to know ya Rob. Go CUBBIES!

If the Cubs need a guy who can hit .226 and play poor defensively, then yes, he will help the team.
If they're looking for offense, then they should have traded for Kendall in about 1999, when he was a monster. Seriously, he's lost his legs, his batspeed is terrible, and even his usually reliable eye seems to have deserted him this season.

Yes. The Cubs are obviously struggling to find a catcher who can help their pitchers, and Kendall is the guy. You won't see it to watch him, he is terrible. You will see it in the pitchers down the stretch.

As an A's fan, I was happy to find out that Kendall was leaving. He's batting .225 and sucks on defense. He couldn't throw anybody out to save his life. Plus, he's only hit 3 HR's since joining the A's. Good luck with him.

Yes, He will help them lose more games. Got rid of Barrett and got a lesser guy in Kendall. Hmmmmm, that's smart!
